Brockhampton - The Family 2022

5/10 - review: This record consists mostly of unfinished, unpolished songs. Not to mention the lack of input from anyone else in the group. Some tracks like "Big P&ssy" and "The ending" had potential but get cut short. I don't understand why they had to make an entire album out of one mins long songs.

If you're going to listen to this record, do yourself a fawour and skip any song that doesn't go pass the two mins mark. That's pretty much all that record has to offer.

Kanye West - Ye Album Review and more

year 2018 - review: Given the desperate attempt to hype the album release, I can't say I'm surprised to find Ye severely underwhelming. With 7 tracks clocking in at 23 minutes, it sounds as if Kanye made the album in a matter of weeks and not months or years as was the case with his previous albums, all of which were known for his flawless production and lyricism. As Kanye has descended further down the rabbit hole of Kardashian drug addled madness, his artistry let alone his humanity is nowhere to be found. RIP.

J. Cole - 4 Your Eyez Only Reviews (Critic Reviews)

info: 4 Your Eyez Only is the fourth studio album by American hip hop recording artist J. Cole. It was released on December 9, 2016.
90 - Exclaim
It's a love letter, and yet, it's astonishing just how hard-hitting it is.

90 - New York Times
It is spartan but sumptuous, emotionally acute but plain-spoken. There’s an extraordinary sense of calm pervading this album, one of the year’s most finely drawn.

67 - Pitchfork
The title track, which closes the album with a missive for those young girls, is anchored by his personal anxieties, making for some of Cole’s most affecting writing to date. ... At its lowest points, 4 Your Eyez Only rehashes Cole’s worst tendencies.

60 - Independent (UK)
Jermaine Cole’s fourth album is highly principled and skilfully wrought, but those aren’t always the most prized or effective elements when it comes to hip-hop.

60 - The Guardian
It is his most unassuming record to date, but also his richest sonically. There is still significant room for growth, but he has finally found his voice.

Chance the Rapper - Coloring Book Reviews (Critic Reviews & Ratings)

Rating: 85/100 - Based on 7 Critics - Genre: Rap

100 - Consequence of Sound
While Coloring Book successfully channels the musical conventions of African-American church tradition without sounding dated or pastiche, the album also subtly chronicles black history and uses it as inspiration for artistic freedom.

91 - The A.V. Club
Coloring Book delivers one celebratory hymnal after another, emphasizing the natural high that comes with feeling loved and watched over.

91 - Entertainment Weekly
Though it doesn’t eclipse the LSD-inspired brilliance of Acid Rap, Coloring Book affirms Chance’s place as one of hip-hop’s most promising--and most uplifting--young stars.

83 - Pretty Much Amazing
This is a vibrant, uneven, irresistibly likable, and occasionally transcendent release from an artist who shows no signs of falling off anytime soon.

80 - The 405
Sonically and conceptually, the all-purpose artist isn't interested in coloring in between the lines, but focused instead on offering a vibrant option to things once defined as black and white.

80 - Pop Matters
Coloring Book is another exceptional release from a vital artist only now coming into his own.

70 - Tiny Mix Tapes
Chance is no longer quite coming from that place of adolescence that was essential to 10 Day and Acid Rap, but on Coloring Book, he doesn’t yet sound comfortably settled into whatever it is that’s supposed to come next.

the Kitchen - Hieroglyphics Review

Genres: Rap, Underground Rap West Coast Rap Alternative Rap

Release Date: November 19, 2013

Review: 3rd official Hiero release is a let down. Whatever recipe they were using in 'the kitchen' left a bad taste in my mouth. Listened a few times and it's just not listenable. The production quality is average at best as the vocals are drowned out by the beats at certain points. There just weren't any catchy hooks, beats, or witty lyricism I'm used to. The songs that did have good lyrics like All as above so Below, had the same melancholy music playing in a loop ad nauseum. Possibly the Hiero group needs to filter out some of the members and let the prominent members shine like they did on Souls of Mischief. I found the song talking about "merch" to be a little offensive to the listeners.. that's purely a sales term and to brag about how they are making money off selling t-shirts, preying on the fans was a bit insulting.. that's just me. They had plenty of time to put this album out, I view this as failure.. let's hope they can team up with better producers and work on those lyrics.
Verdict: 40/100

Kanye West - Yeezus

Genres: Hardcore Rap, Left-Field Hip-Hop, Midwest Rap

Release Date: June 18, 2013

Review: Before I begin, let me just say that I gave this album 3 stars based on the fact that I appreciate the fact that Kanye kept his word and created an absolutely chaotic and polarizing album that has little to no chance of any form of mainstream success. With that said, listeners will either love or hate the album and I highly suggest you preview it before spending your hard earned money on it.

T.I. - Trouble Man: Heavy is the Head Review (Rap)

I had to put how I feel about this album in one sentence, it would be this: Trouble Man is a hard hitting album that doesn't let up, and because of that it might be worth buying just a few tracks instead of the whole album.

I grew up loving rap artists like, Dre, Tupac, C-Lo, Ice-Cube and like current artists like Lupe Fiasco, Common and Atmosphere. One thing I liked about TI's previous work was that his music was like a combination of good modern southern rap and old school 90's hip hop.

Big Boi - Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors Review

Big boi is back with his new 2nd solo album and i have to say at first i needed to get used to it so i said say hey this is like an out kast album but with out andre.

This album brings you into an big filled world into big boi world of out kast on his own and this album its good its great and could be an classic album for big boi solo effort.

The thing is that is album will not reach the status of an out kast album its because an new group album is much more demanded by the world of fans out there so when andre gets his head out is ass lol we will get that new out kast album soon are never guys.

The Roots - Undun

I've thought back before to mistakes I've made, decisions I've made and how it influenced my life and how it impacted my ending up in the very room I sit right now writing this review. If I had done things differently, would I be here right now? Would I have ended up in another state? Perhaps gone to college, got a helluva job? Met someone, settled down, had kids, and the stereotypical American Dream? Or was I always destined to end up where I'm at now?

I thought about that as I listened to Undun, because it made me wonder whether Redford was doomed from the beginning. Whether his ending was predetermined from jump street and that he realized that and simply embraced what he felt was his destiny. It's definitely an interesting conversation piece, I think. And that, ultimately, is what separates The Roots from your average hip hop artists out there. The Roots stay coming correct with their intelligent and introspective works, while many others tend to focus on more materialistic gains. Unfortunately too many people would rather Watch The Throne, rather than get their heads into some real solid intelligent hip hop music. And that's sad, but unfortunately a part of life. As the album ends, it has it's final piece, a cover of singer Sufjan Stevens' song Redford, split into four "movements", and tell the "beginning" of Stephen's life.

Common - The Dreamer/The Believer Review

I like Common, and I have for a long time, that's why this cd was just "ok" for me. I like his flow, the beats are fine, but there's something missing for me. I think my expectations for his are so high, a conventional album just won't cut it from him anymore. It's very similar to Finding Forever for me. I did not like Universal Mind Control, but liked the idea of stepping outside of his box and trying something new. 5/10

Mac Miller - Blue Slide Park Reviews

Based on 5 critics - Overal Score:  57/ 100

It was cool when Miller was wearing snap-backs and sampling Nas, or shouting out Wu-Tang, or rapping over Lord Finesse beats – it sounded good. But Blue Slide Park seems to ditch this approach, while still wearing a snap-back. So now, by some, Mac Miller will likely be labeled by some as a young hipster who is doing Hip-Hop culture wrong. Actually, he’s a real fan of Hip-Hop with under-developed rhymes and mainstream-production problems. Bummer. 65/100 Read Full Review http://allhiphop.com/2011/11/08/album-review-mac-millers-blue-slide-park/
